School rules

Student in the libraryAt King Edward Vll School we have a Consistent Conduct Policy.

Students will:

  • Speak and act respectfully to others
  • Do as asked by staff straightaway
  • Respect and care for the School environment and the property of others
  • Arrive on time with the correct equipment and sit where they are told
  • Follow procedures for starting and ending lessons, engage positively and work hard throughout
  • Follow School rules (regarding mobile phones, outdoor clothing, food and drink etc)
  • Always have your identification card and be wearing this at all times on-site

Below are some of the daily rules in and around School:

  • Move around the School sensibly and quietly
  • Arrive to School on time every day and make sure you are not late to lessons. If you are late you must sign in at the School office
  • Walk sensibly on the corridors and stairways. Do not run or push
  • Follow the one-way system around the School building
  • When you enter the classroom, stand behind your desk and wait until the teacher tells you to sit down
  • Abide by rules regarding areas that are out of bounds
  • Ensure you are appropriately dressed for School (hats and outdoor coats are not to be worn in lessons)
  • Mobile phones and earphones need to be switched off and out of sight at all times in the building
  • Eat and drink in the allocated areas only and never in lessons. Water is the only drink allowed in lessons. Energy drinks and chewing gum are not allowed
  • Students in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 must not leave the site at break or lunchtime

Don’t worry about trying to remember all the rules now.  There will be plenty of time in September to get used to them and you can ask any questions if you are unsure.

A few things to remember:

  • Every single person in School works really hard to make sure you get the best education for you
  • Every person in School wants you to do well and succeed in your education
  • Even though it sometimes might not feel like it, everything we do and say is in your best interests
  • If you have any problems or are unsure about anything please ask someone – we all want to help and make sure you are happy during your time here at King Edward Vll School
