    We have a vacancy for a confident, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and dedicated Buildings Officer to provide high-quality support to a large, dynamic and successful secondary School. The Glossop Road site is housed in a Grade II* listed building with an additional new build also on site.

    The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate accuracy, organisation and attention to detail. They will need to have a flexible approach to working hours to fit in with the needs of the School, an ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines and have the skills and ability to meet the needs of the role. Full training will be provided for the successful applicant.

    • have excellent organisational skills and is reliable, efficient, flexible and adaptable
    • have the knowledge to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation application to the service area, e.g health and safety.
    • have excellent inter-personal skills and can use their initiative when necessary
    • the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, e.g staff, students and external stakeholders
    • be able to make a real contribution to the life of this School

    This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post will involve regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you are included on the children’s barred list held by the DBS.

    Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to the disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the ministry of justice website or see here.

    Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered, prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process. If your application is successful, this self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure and Barring Service before your appointment in confirmed. We will perform online searches as part of due diligence for all shortlisted candidates.
