Students complete the Brilliant Club programme

We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic achievements of a group of our year 8 students who have successfully completed the prestigious Brilliant Club Scholars Programme. Since February, students have shown exceptional dedication and commitment as they embarked on an academic journey designed to develop university-style learning skills.

Over the course of the programme, students worked closely with a PhD tutor from the University of Sheffield, attending a series of seven challenging tutorials. During these sessions, they explored complex ideas and engaged in high-level academic discussion, culminating in the production of a 1,500-word university-style essay addressing the thought-provoking question: “Are we living in a simulation?”

Throughout the programme, students developed a wide range of valuable skills, including teamwork, academic referencing, independent research, and problem-solving. Their ability to rise to the challenge of such demanding work is a testament to their resilience, determination, and curiosity.

The programme concluded with a special graduation ceremony held at the University of Leeds on Thursday 14 May. This was a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements in a university setting and reflect on all they have accomplished.

We are incredibly proud of all the students involved for their hard work and perseverance. Their success in the Scholars Programme highlights both their academic potential and their readiness to embrace future opportunities. Congratulations to all involved!
