  • V Level in Education

The V level in Education is currently under development and is planned for first teaching in September 2027. The qualification is a 2-year course. The vocational course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of learning and education in a range of contexts. It supports progression onto further education, apprenticeships or further training when studied alongside other A levels or AAQs. The course is aimed at young people who are interested in a career related to education or child development.

What do I need to study Education V level?

Grade 4 in 2 sciences is required. A minimum of a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Maths is needed. If BTEC Health and Social Care is previously studied a minimum level 2 Pass would be needed. However, students need to be aware that for some university courses, GCSE grade 5 or above may be required.

How will I be assessed/what does the course involve?

    The planned assessment model includes

    • 60% non-exam assessment (for example, coursework/portfolio based tasks that link to case studies and other vocational scenarios)
    • 40% examination based tasks that are assessed by the exam board

    What will I learn?

The draft specification is still being finalised by the exam board but the content is likely to focus on child development and teaching and learning as well as Safeguarding, SEND and inclusion.

What can I do with a V level in Education qualification?

There are many options available following successful completion of level 3 study. Progression onto a variety of university courses can be achieved. These include child nursing, teaching and social work.
