Options

For many students Sixth Form consists of two years of study completing three A Levels. However, we have some students who study their subjects over three years. Some start with four subjects and then drop down to three subjects in the autumn of Year 12. About 50 of our students pick one or more of the applied courses such as a BTEC or AAQ for their programme of study. We will help you choose a personalised curriculum that supports your interests and progression plans. Some of those options are shown below.

Option blocks

Below are the details of the courses that we offer at Level 3: A Level, BTEC and AAQ. All courses are offered subject to sufficient demand and may be withdrawn in the event of insufficient student numbers.

Courses are arranged in option blocks. Below are the option blocks for the academic year starting in September 2026/27. You will need to choose subjects from different option blocks to ensure that they fit into the timetable.

Notes to the table

  • Students who want to do Engineering will need to choose this in block C and block E
  • Students who want to do Further Mathematics will have to study this in both block A and block C
  • The School reserves the right not to run courses where the number of students is not viable
